How the estimate works
The calculator adds 340 days to your entered date by default. You can adjust the planning length if your vet has advised a different estimate or you have a useful record from previous pregnancies.
The Royal Veterinary College describes commonly quoted gestation lengths of 340–345 days and a wider range of 320–365 days. We show the dates at day 320 and day 365 for context. These are not a personalised prediction interval: an individual mare can foal outside them, and date alone cannot establish whether a mare or foal is healthy.
This tool does not confirm pregnancy, predict the onset of labour or replace your vet’s assessment. Discuss monitoring and foaling preparations with your vet; seek veterinary help promptly if you are concerned about your mare.
